Develop camera RAW files entirely in your browser.
A desktop-grade RAW darkroom, in a browser tab.
The full non-destructive workflow photographers expect from Lightroom or Capture One — minus the install, the subscription and the upload.
Nine RAW formats, decoded locally
DNG, CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, PEF and RW2 are parsed in a pure-TypeScript engine — TIFF and ISO-BMFF containers, lossless JPEG (SOF3) entropy decoding, 8/10/12/14/16-bit CFA extraction, DNG black/white levels, CFA patterns and embedded color matrices.
Desktop-class develop controls
Exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites and blacks, temperature and tint, vibrance, clarity and dehaze — applied in linear light with proper black-level subtraction and camera-to-sRGB color management, exactly like a raw converter.
Curves, HSL and split toning
A per-channel tone curve editor, eight-band HSL (hue, saturation, luminance per color), highlight/shadow split toning, film grain and vignette. Ten built-in looks from punchy landscape to faded film.
Detail: demosaic, sharpen, denoise
Two demosaic algorithms (fast bilinear and quality gradient-corrected), unsharp masking with radius and threshold, luminance and chroma noise reduction for high-ISO files, plus chromatic-aberration and distortion correction.
Geometry and export
90° rotation, flips, straighten with auto-crop, aspect-ratio crops, and export to JPG, PNG, WebP or 16-bit uncompressed TIFF at any size up to the full sensor resolution — no watermark at any tier.
Private by architecture
Decoding, demosaicing, developing and encoding all run in a Web Worker on your device. Your RAW files have zero network egress — verify it in the browser's Network panel, or run the tool offline after the first load.
From a camera RAW to a finished export in four steps.
- 01
Drop your RAW files
Drag in DNG, CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, PEF or RW2 files — or try the built-in synthetic sample. The engine auto-detects the container, compression and bit depth, and reads the embedded color profile.
- 02
Develop non-destructively
Every slider is a live, reversible instruction — the original sensor data stays untouched in the worker. Watch the before/after split, the RGB histogram and clipping indicators as you work.
- 03
Batch with the filmstrip
Queue up to 10 files on the free plan (100 on Pro), jump between them, and copy your look across the set. Each file keeps its own non-destructive settings.
- 04
Export at full resolution
Render at the full sensor resolution with the quality demosaic and export JPG, PNG, WebP or 16-bit TIFF. The file is encoded in your browser and saved straight to disk.
About RAW Studio
RAW Studio is a free, browser-based camera RAW developer. Open a DNG, CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, PEF or RW2 file and it is decoded entirely on your device — no upload, no server, no account. It is built for photographers who want a Lightroom-class develop workflow without the install or the subscription.
Everything runs in a Web Worker through a pure-TypeScript engine: TIFF and ISO-BMFF container parsing, lossless JPEG (SOF3) entropy decoding, 8-to-16-bit CFA extraction, gradient-corrected demosaicing, and a non-destructive develop pipeline that works in linear light. Your RAW bytes never leave the machine, so the tool keeps working offline after the first load and is safe for client work under NDA.
How the RAW pipeline works
A camera RAW file is not an image — it is the sensor's raw Bayer data plus metadata. The engine first identifies the container (TIFF for DNG/CR2/NEF/ARW/ORF/PEF/RW2, ISO-BMFF for CR3, a custom section table for RAF), then extracts the CFA samples: uncompressed, bit-packed 8/10/12/14/16-bit, lossless-JPEG compressed, or deflate-compressed. Black levels, white levels, the CFA pattern and — for DNG — the embedded color matrix and as-shot neutral are read from the tags.
The CFA is demosaiced into full RGB, normalized against black and white levels, white-balanced, and converted from the camera's native color space to sRGB using the embedded matrix with Bradford chromatic adaptation to D65. All of this happens in linear light, before any tone curve is applied — the same order a desktop raw converter uses.
Developing non-destructively
Every slider is an instruction, not a destructive edit. The sensor data stays untouched in the worker, so you can move exposure, contrast, the six tone zones, temperature, tint, vibrance, clarity and dehaze as freely as in Lightroom. The before/after split view and the live RGB histogram with clipping indicators show exactly what each control does.
Beyond the basics there is a per-channel tone curve editor, eight-band HSL with hue/saturation/luminance per color, split toning for highlights and shadows, film grain, vignette, unsharp masking with radius and threshold, luminance and chroma noise reduction for high-ISO files, and chromatic-aberration and distortion correction. Ten presets cover the common looks, and an Auto button applies a gray-world white balance with a gentle tone lift.
Geometry, batching and export
Rotate in 90° steps, flip horizontally or vertically, straighten with automatic edge cropping, and crop to any aspect ratio. The filmstrip holds up to 10 files on the free plan and 100 on Pro; each file keeps its own settings, and you can jump between them without losing work.
Export at the full sensor resolution — the quality demosaic runs at export time, so previews stay fast without sacrificing the final file. JPEG, PNG and WebP are available at every tier with a quality slider and a long-edge limit; Pro adds 16-bit uncompressed TIFF for archival masters. No watermark, ever, and every export is licensed for commercial use.
