Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Every operation — merge, split, rotate, compress, page management, encrypt, OCR, watermark, and image conversion — runs locally in your browser using pdf-lib, pdf.js, and Tesseract.js. Your original files never touch a server, and you can verify this in your browser's Network panel.

Which operations are free?

All ten operations are free with no sign-up: merge up to 10 PDFs (50 MB each), split into 20 sub-files, rotate unlimited pages, compress unlimited files, manage pages in any PDF, convert to/from images, encrypt with a password, OCR scanned pages, and add watermarks. Pro raises the caps to 50 PDFs per merge, 200 MB files, 600-page image exports, and 600-page OCR batches.

Do the tools work on encrypted PDFs?

No. PDFs that already require a password to open cannot be edited without that password. Once a file is unlocked, however, you can add a new password with the Encrypt mode. We never store, transmit, or log any password you enter.

What's the difference between the free and Pro tiers?

The free tier accepts files up to 50 MB and processes 10 PDFs per merge batch, 30 images per PDF-to-images run, and 5 pages per OCR session — all unlimited uses, no daily caps. Pro raises the limits to 200 MB files, 50 PDFs per merge, 600 pages for both image export and OCR, and unlocks higher-fidelity image rendering for print.

How does the OCR work on scanned PDFs?

OCR mode uses Tesseract.js running as WebAssembly inside your browser. We render each page to a high-resolution image with pdf.js, then pass it to Tesseract. The recognized text is shown in your selected language and can be copied or downloaded as a TXT file. There is no upload.

Can I merge more than two PDFs?

Yes. Drop up to 10 PDFs on the free tier (50 on Pro). The tool preserves each source's page size and reorders them by drag-and-drop before merging, so you can interleave pages from different documents.

What file formats are supported?

Inputs include standard PDFs (PDF 1.4 through 2.0), PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, and BMP for the Images-to-PDF mode. Outputs are optimized PDFs (with object streams), PNG (lossless) or JPEG (smaller) images, and UTF-8 text from OCR.
